As a partner in the international DAISY Award program that recognizes nurses' extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care, OSF HealthCare Saint Paul Medical Center recently presented its DAISY Award to Jana Trembly, RN.
Jana has been caring for patients in Mendota for nearly 20 years and currently serves in the infusion room within the Community Health Services Department. Her recent nomination came from a grateful patient's family member who shared a heartfelt experience: "Jana was our neighbor growing up. I haven't seen her in over 30 years. My mom came in for her annual infusion and Jana lit up; she remembered us instantly. She made us feel calm, at ease, and welcomed. She was so understanding of my mom's memory struggles at age 88 and made us feel so special. The check-in staff were just as kind. The whole experience was simply wonderful."
Heather Bomstad, vice president and chief nursing officer for OSF Saint Paul and OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Centers, said: "The DAISY Award gives us a meaningful way to honor our nurses' incredible impact. Jana's compassion and dedication are truly inspiring."
The DAISY Award program can be found in over 2,000 healthcare facilities in all 50 states and 14 other countries. OSF HealthCare encourages patients, family members, and fellow staff to recognize caregivers who have provided exceptional care and service by nominating them for an award to honor their dedication.
