OSF HealthCare Saint Elizabeth Medical Center is proud to announce that Callie, a Behavioral Health associate on the Behavioral Health unit, has been recognized with the Sunflower Award. Callie has been a valued member of the OSF HealthCare team, providing compassionate care to patients and families every day.

The Sunflower Award honors Mission Partners outside of nursing who exemplify exceptional service and heartfelt commitment to those they serve.

Callie was nominated by a patient who shared the meaningful impact she had during a challenging time: "She was very kind. She didn’t talk to me like I was a child and she seemed caring. She was straightforward and didn’t treat patients any differently. She understood me. I liked that when I had normal conversations with her, she wouldn’t act fake and she would actually engage in the conversation and talk to me like a person and not like a mental patient, and it made me feel seen and heard."

“Callie consistently demonstrates what it means to provide care with kindness and respect,” said Maria Chicchelly, vice president and chief nursing officer of OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center. “Her ability to meet patients where they are, offer understanding, and bring comfort through connection is exactly what the Sunflower Award celebrates.”
