OSF Wound Care has opened at 3375 N. Seminary St., Galesburg, IL, offering advanced treatment for people living with chronic, non-healing wounds. OSF HealthCare St. Mary Medical Center has partnered with Healogics, the nation’s leading provider of advanced chronic wound care services. Healogics is headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, and operates a nationwide network of more than 600 Wound Care Centers®.
It is estimated that chronic wounds affect 6.7 million people in the U.S., and that number is rising—fueled by an aging population and increasing rates of conditions such as diabetes, obesity and the late effects of radiation therapy. If left untreated, chronic wounds can lead to diminished quality of life and, in some cases, amputation of the affected limb.
“We are pleased to take part in the advancement of wound care by bringing this innovative solution to our community,” said Audra Baker, wound care manager. “We recognize the need for access to local treatment options. Our resources continue to expand with advanced technology, highly trained providers and a valuable partnership with Healogics.”
OSF Wound Care offers an evidence-based, systematic approach to advanced wound care. A patient’s individualized treatment plan may include specialized wound dressings, debridement, compression therapy, advanced cellular products, topical growth factors, edema management and/or non-invasive vascular assessment. Treatment plans are developed based on each patient’s needs, with follow-up care coordinated through the patient’s primary care provider.
Additionally, OSF Wound Care is equipped with Healogics’ newest technologies: Clinical OptimizationSM and Decision SupportSM. These applications, part of the Healogics WoundSuiteSM platform, enable a critical connection between patients living with chronic wounds and their multidisciplinary health care team, supporting collaborative, evidence-based, patient-centered care.
Likely candidates for treatment include those suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections, compromised skin grafts and flaps, and wounds that have not healed within a reasonable timeframe. Individuals whose wounds have not improved with traditional treatment methods may benefit from a visit. No referral is required.
OSF Wound Care is located on the south side of the building at 3375 N. Seminary St. Clinic hours are Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to noon. For more information, call (309) 734-1408.
