The OSF Saint Katharine Moms’ Group continues to grow, prompting a move to the Dixon Family YMCA to better accommodate the increasing number of attendees. The group, which meets the first Friday of each month, now averages 10 to 20 moms per session.
Each meeting offers a chance for local mothers to connect, enjoy snacks, participate in educational discussions, and engage in crafts—an activity that has become a favorite among attendees. “Having help to complete keepsake crafts like footprint art is something many moms appreciate,” organizers said.
The new YMCA location also provides outdoor space for older children to play and for moms to enjoy fresh air during gatherings.
In addition, the “Moms on the Move” walking group is in full swing, meeting twice a month and averaging eight moms with children. The 1.5-mile path has become a hit, with many participants discovering it for the first time.
“We’ve had several moms form friendships from attending these groups, and that’s one of my main goals,” said Gwen Strum, group organizer. “Motherhood can be isolating. I want moms to feel empowered, connected, and supported.”
