Food insecurity affects millions of individuals and families, often in ways that aren't immediately visible. It can mean skipping meals, worrying about running out of food, or having to make difficult choices between buying groceries and paying for essentials like medicine or housing. Fortunately, there are local resources available to help those in need.

Local Resources

Fighting Hunger Feeding Wellness

  • Mondays: St. Patrick Church (612 S. Highland Ave., Dixon) - 5 p.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Tuesdays: Lee County Council on Aging (100 W. 2nd St., Dixon) - 4 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • Wednesdays: McReynolds Towers - Lobby (1000 Washington Ave., Dixon) - 6 p.m.
  • Thursdays: Lee County Council on Aging (100 W. 2nd St., Dixon) - 4 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Summer Eats Program

Free meals for kids and teens during the summer. Every Wednesday from Noon - 12:30 p.m.

  • Dixon locations: Old Lincoln School/Open Sesame, St. Paul Church, splash pad at Vaile Park, Wooden Wonderland, Dixon High School, Jefferson School, Washington School
  • Other locations: Amboy Public Library, Ashton Public Library, Franklin Grove Library, Polo Public Library, Dixon Public Library, Paw Paw Library, Oreong Public Library, Paw Paw Boys & Girls Club

Buddy Bags of Dixon

Free meals for Dixon Public School students during the school year. Contact your child's school to register.

Dixon Food Pantry

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
