October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. Statistically pregnancy and infant loss affects one in four women through stillbirth, miscarriage, SIDS as well as other causes at any point during pregnancy or infancy. To honor and recognize the loss and grief that has been experienced by those in our community, OSF St. Francis Hospital & Medical Group is holding Mass of Remembrance and Healing.
The service will take place in the OSF Hospital Chapel and be led by hospital chaplain, Father Robb Jurkovich on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 12:10 p.m. All are welcome to attend regardless of religious affiliation.
Dealing with death in a family is never easy and there are no instructions on how to grieve the loss of a child. Healing can be a lifelong process, while the remembrance service will take place annually on the first Saturday in October, a stone remembering pregnancy loss has also been added in the OSF St. Francis Hospital Serenity Garden. The stone is a permanent addition and available to anyone in the community to visit at any time to provide a quiet place of reflection and respite.
