After more than 30 years in food service management, and 20 wonderful years at OSF Saint Katharine, Linda Setchell is hanging up her apron and heading into retirement with a heart full of memories and gratitude.
Linda began her career in food service in Kansas City and moved throughout the Midwest before landing at Sauk Valley Community College in 1991. In 2005, she was recruited to KSB Hospital, where she found her home. “The last 20 years of my career have been ASWESOME!" she says with her signature enthusiasm.
Throughout her time here, Linda has led with heart and vision. She's especially proud of her staff, calling them her “family," and of the kitchen improvements she championed—like the covered hood, stainless steel counters, and updated equipment. “I always felt very fortunate that our board would approve the improvements to our kitchen," she shared.
Linda's leadership extended far beyond the cafeteria. She has played a vital role in countless events from Caring Friends and Healthcare Week to holiday meals and celebrations. Her advice to others? “You choose the attitude you bring to work each day. That choice determines the way you are at work."
As she looks ahead, Linda is excited to travel and meet her new great-niece in November. While she'll miss the people most of all, her legacy of warmth, kindness and dedication will continue here at OSF.
