OSF HealthCare Saint Elizabeth Medical Center is proud to announce that Jenny Mayer, a Peru patient care technician on the Medical-Surgical Unit, has been recognized with the Sunflower Award. Jenny has been a valued member of the OSF HealthCare team, providing compassionate care to patients and families every day.
“The Sunflower Award honors care team members outside of nursing who demonstrate exceptional dedication and compassion,” said Jodie Borchelt, vice president of Nursing Operations. “Jenny exemplifies these qualities through the care and comfort she provides to every patient she encounters.”
Mayer was nominated by a patient who described the meaningful impact she had during a hospital stay:
"How do you thank a ‘stranger’? Jenny, you have no idea how thankful I am to have met you. You spent time with me, letting me vent, laugh, and cry. I’ve never shared before, yet you created a safe space for me to open up. You’re obviously special. Thank you for trusting me as well. I wish you a lifetime of happiness with your beautiful family. Keep shining, because ‘It’s all gonna be alright!’”
OSF HealthCare encourages patients, family members, and fellow Mission Partners to recognize caregivers who have provided exceptional care by submitting nominations for the DAISY and Sunflower Awards. These awards honor extraordinary dedication and compassion in service to patients.
