OSF HealthCare, in partnership with the Knox County Health Department, invites community members to participate in a free Drug Take Back Pop-Up Event on Friday, October 23, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Knox County Health Department, located at 1361 W. Fremont St. in Galesburg.
The event provides a safe, secure and anonymous opportunity for residents to dispose of unused prescription medications. Proper disposal helps prevent prescription drug misuse, reduces the risk of accidental exposure and protects the environment by keeping unwanted medications out of landfills and water systems.
"Safely disposing of unused medications is a simple but important step in protecting our families and communities," said [OSF HealthCare spokesperson]. "Through partnerships like this, we can help raise awareness about responsible medication disposal and provide residents with a convenient way to make their homes safer."
In addition to collecting unused prescription medications, representatives will be available outside the Knox County Health Department to share information about local medication disposal locations, educational resources and giveaways.

These events are held twice a year, in April and October, to help prevent drug misuse and promote healthier communities.
OSF HealthCare and the Knox County Health Department encourage residents to take advantage of this opportunity to clean out their medicine cabinets and help make Knox County a safer place to live.
No questions, no trouble just a safe way to dispose of unwanted medications and keep our community healthy.
