OSF HealthCare is proud to recognize Lanny Slevin, a physical therapist at OSF Rehabilitation in Peru, as a recipient of the Sunflower Award.
Lanny has been a Mission Partner for 34 years and is known for his unwavering commitment to patients, providing compassionate care, encouragement and support throughout their recovery journeys.
Lanny was nominated by a grateful patient who shared that he has been their physical
therapist for the past four years, helping them navigate multiple health challenges, including shoulder surgery, neck and back issues, knee and hip problems, and chronic pain. The patient praised Lanny for his dedication, noting that even when specialists felt there were few treatment options remaining, he never gave up and continued working to improve their comfort and quality of life.
"When I was at my lowest, he was always there for me," the patient wrote. "He never let me give up for one second. He always knew what to say when I was ready to lose hope. For more than two years, my insurance denied approval for a neurostimulator to help manage my chronic pain. Lanny encouraged me to keep fighting, and thanks in part to his support, I was finally approved. His belief in me made all the difference."
