OSF Saint Katharine to host annual Salad Day benefiting United Way

9/02/2026

OSF HealthCare Saint Katharine Medical Center is bringing back a beloved community tradition with its annual Salad Day fundraiser benefiting United Way of Lee County. The popular Apple Harvest Sizzling Salad will be available on Thursday, September 17, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., or while supplies last.

Salads will be sold for $7 each, with 100% of proceeds benefiting United Way of Lee County. The event will be held in the OSF Saint Katharine circle drive, providing a convenient drive-thru option for community members.

The fundraiser continues a longstanding community tradition that began at KSB Hospital and has been embraced by OSF Saint Katharine.

"We are so grateful to the support from OSF Saint Katharine in holding the Salad Day fundraiser to benefit United Way,” shared Ashley Richter, executive director of United Way of Lee County. “The community loves this event, and it is a great way to bring people together around United Way's Annual Giving Campaign."

Funds raised through Salad Day stay local and help United Way of Lee County support programs that strengthen the health, education and financial stability of area residents. Examples of initiatives supported through United Way funding include food assistance programs, youth mentoring and educational opportunities, emergency assistance for individuals and families in crisis, mental health and wellness resources, and other community-based services provided by local nonprofit organizations.

Salads will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, and pre-orders will not be accepted. Payment is limited to cash or check only, with checks made payable to United Way of Lee County.
