OSF HealthCare invites the public to a free community health event on Friday, November 21, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Bureau County Metro Center, 837 Park Ave. W. This event is designed to provide residents with resources, education and services to support their health and wellness.
Attendees can hop aboard the OSF OnCall King Care-A-Van for a free Cardio Check. The van is staffed with digital health workers and a certified medical assistant who can provide health screenings, including blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose checks. Visitors can also connect with OSF OnCall providers through virtual visits for common concerns such as sore throat, rashes, pink eye and viral illnesses. COVID-19, flu and strep tests are available on site, and no appointment is needed.
Diabetes education will be offered by Kandi Burlingame, OSF HealthCare diabetes resource educator. She will discuss the signs and symptoms of diabetes and provide guidance on managing the condition for improved health outcomes.
The University of Illinois Extension will provide healthy eating samples, recipes and nutrition tips to help attendees maintain a heart-healthy lifestyle.
This free event is open to the public. OSF HealthCare encourages the community to take advantage of this opportunity to learn, connect and engage in their health and wellness.
