Caring for a loved one can be rewarding, but it can also bring challenges and stress. OSF HealthCare is offering Powerful Tools for Caregivers, a six-week educational program designed to help family caregivers develop the skills and confidence needed to care for others while also caring for themselves.
The class series follows The Caregiver Helpbook and provides practical tools and strategies to help caregivers manage daily responsibilities, reduce stress and maintain their own well-being.
Participants will learn how to:
- Reduce stress
- Improve self-confidence
- Manage time, set goals and solve problems
- Better communicate their feelings
- Locate helpful resources and support services
Classes will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, October 13, 20 and 27 and November 3, 10 and 17, at OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center, Meeting Rooms 2 & 3, 1100 E. Norris Drive, Ottawa.
"Caregivers often put their own needs aside while focusing on a loved one," said Darby Mix, supervisor of Community Education. "This program offers practical tools and support to help caregivers feel more confident, capable and connected to valuable resources in their community."
The workshop is open to anyone caring for an adult family member or friend with a chronic condition, illness or disability.
An RSVP is required by September 28. To register, visit https://bit.ly/46WYyq1, call (815) 431-5277 or email I80.CommunityEducation@osfhealthcare.org.
